DEVELOPMENT TEAM

One of Moreton Bay Cycling Club’s main focus areas is developing our juniors into well-rounded and competitive riders.

New junior development and training schedule. Stay tuned for more updates!

Our Coaches are Highly Experienced, with over 7 years of experience in both Road and Track cycling. They are the backbone of our cycling community, playing a crucial role in helping individuals of all ages and abilities experience the joy of cycling. Whether guiding beginners through their first wobbly pedals or supporting seasoned cyclists in reaching their goals on the world stage, our coaches and instructors make a significant impact.

What’s the Difference Between a Coach and an Instructor?

  • Instructors: Focus on developing technical skills and boosting confidence within specific cycling disciplines. Their goal is to maximize enjoyment for all riders. This can involve teaching safe riding techniques to beginners or helping cyclists perfect skills like cornering or gear shifting.
  • Coaches: Take a deeper approach by addressing the physical (physiological) and mental aspects of cycling. Coaches help riders train for competitions by building endurance, power, and mental resilience. They create personalized training plans and offer continuous support and guidance.

Our Junior Development (JD) program caters to juniors aged U9–U17 years, and our Junior Development Policy outlines our approach to supporting our junior riders.

Program Requirements:

  • All juniors must participate in the skills session before joining the simulated racing each Saturday.
  • All Moreton Bay Cycling Club coaches are AusCycling qualified and hold current Blue Cards.
  • Junior riders must be accompanied by a parent or guardian unless alternative arrangements have been made with the JD Coordinator.

For more information on our JD program, please contact our JD Coordinator.
